mpvRx includes an audio-focused library and now-playing experience in addition to video playback.

## Audio playback

Use the track selector to choose embedded audio streams. Audio delay can correct a fixed synchronization offset. Pitch correction and a configurable volume-boost ceiling are available for playback-speed and quiet-source workflows.

Volume above 100% applies digital gain and may clip. Lower the boost when distortion appears.

## Music library

The Music tab can use local storage, Jellyfin, or Navidrome as its source. Local browsing includes:

- Songs, albums, artists, and playlists
- Artwork-aware grid and list layouts
- Search and sorting
- Folder exclusions and a minimum-track-duration filter
- Favorites and shuffled playback

The dedicated now-playing view combines artwork, metadata, transport controls, and the up-next queue.

### Switch the source

Choose the active source from Music settings. Local uses Android media and
filesystem indexing; Jellyfin and Navidrome use their saved server account.
Changing source replaces the browsed catalog but does not merge remote and local
albums into one library.

If a remote source is unavailable, switch back to Local rather than deleting

### Playlists, favorites, and queue

Create local audio playlists, add selected tracks, or save the current queue as
a named playlist. Favorites are represented by a stable audio playlist and stay
in sync with the active music notification.

The up-next queue supports normal or shuffled playback. **Play Next** inserts
after the active track; **Add to Queue** appends. See [Playlists, queues, and history](/docs/library-and-streaming/playlists-and-history).

## Lyrics

mpvRx can display embedded or local lyrics and fetch online lyrics from LRCLIB. When several sources are available, switch sources from the lyrics view. Availability and timing quality depend on the track metadata and provider result.

Timed lyrics follow playback; plain text remains readable without synchronization.
Changing tracks cancels in-flight loading and source conversion so a slow result
from the previous song cannot replace the current lyrics. Optional translation
and Indic-script romanization remain best-effort transformations; keep the
original source available for comparison.

## Visualizers

Blob, Galaxy, Cuboid, and Particle modes are available, along with an optional audio-reactive seekbar. They are presentation choices, not audio processors, and do not change the decoded signal.

Galaxy and Particle emphasize many moving elements; Cuboid emphasizes geometry;
Blob uses a continuous organic surface. All use additional rendering resources,
so disable them when battery life, PiP, or thermal headroom is the priority.

## Background playback

Unified background playback keeps audio or video active while you return to browser screens. Android may require notification permission for media controls and may restrict background behavior under aggressive battery optimization.
