Installation
Install mpvRx from GitHub Releases or track stable updates through Obtainium.
mpvRx supports Android 8.0 (API 26) and newer. Releases are distributed from GitHub as APK files; the app is not installed through Google Play.
Install a stable release
Open the latest release
Visit GitHub Releases on the Android device.
Choose a build
Most devices should start with Standard. Read Build variants before choosing No Vulkan or FongMi.
Choose an architecture
Use arm64-v8a for most current phones and tablets. Choose universal when architecture is unknown, or when the selected variant is distributed only as a universal APK.
Allow the installation
Android may ask the browser or file manager for permission to install unknown apps. Grant it only for the installer you trust, install mpvRx, then revoke it if desired.
Track updates with Obtainium
Obtainium can follow GitHub releases and notify you when a new stable build appears. Add this repository URL:
https://github.com/Riteshp2001/mpvRx
Keep prereleases disabled if you want only stable updates.
Upgrade or switch builds
Install a newer APK over the current app to preserve settings and library state. Build variants share the same application ID, so Android treats them as the same app. If Android rejects a switch, confirm the APK is newer and signed by the same release key.
Verify what you installed
Open Settings → About and record the app version, commit, and variant. Include those details in bug reports.
